Mohamed Salah could be under serious threat from youngster Thorgan Hazard

Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah could be under serious threat from youngster Thorgan Hazard for his place in the Chelsea squad next season.

The Belgian winger, brother of Chelsea first team star Eden Hazard, has reportedly done enough in the Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach this season to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s first team plans for next season.

That would give Chelsea fans the salivating prospect of watching two Hazard brothers in one team in West London. The prospect is also believed to be one the brothers dream of for club and country, with the duo yet to play together for Belgium as Eden missed Thorgan’s one and only appearance so far for the senior international side in May 2013 against the USA.

Salah and fellow winger Andre Schurrle are the two players most at danger of the axe during this January’s transfer window, though Chelsea assistant manager Steve Holland has claimed the club are not keen to make any changes to the playing squad this month.

Should an opportunity to sell one of the players come up, or should Chelsea need to clear space in their squad or finance a deal, they would be most likely to go. With Hazard a seriously good alternative to Salah, there may be little reason for Chelsea to hold on to the Egyptian winger.
