Mata: I'm very grateful for my time at Chelsea

Manchester United playmaker misses his Spanish compatriot at Stamford Bridge.

Just yesterday, Manchester United's prolific chance creator and club record signing Juan Mata blogged a conversation he had with manager David Moyes which indicated that the Scotsman would be using Mata as the focal point for Old Trafford attacks and that it would be he who the team would build around.

Perhaps it was this added responsibility while making a seemingly sideways career step that Jose Mourinho had considered when discussing Mata's options with the player while the Spaniard was still a Chelsea employee in January.
As quoted by the Daily Star, the 25-year-old said the Portuguese had a key role in his transfer to United: 'We spoke and he said that he thought this was a good option for me, and I told him I thought this was a good option for me.'
While Mata will be happy at Stretford (he is, after all, playing football), the playmaker still laments certain things in West London, such as his relationship with Spain team-mate Fernando Torres.

'I'm very grateful for my time at Chelsea and for all the trophies I have won. We had a fantastic relationship, I had great relationships with several of my teammates. They weren't just my teammates, but my friends. Fernando for example. I was very saddened to tell him I was leaving him.
'It was tough to tell him I was going because he is a very important person to me, but we'll keep in touch because we aren't that far away from each other.'
