Chelsea and a host of other clubs are chasing 20 year-old spanish-born wonderkid, Pedro Obiang from Sampdoria.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were due to fight it out for his signature, but now look to face further competition from Italy and Spain.
Chelsea have sent scouts to Italy to watch him and are rumoured to be preparing a bid ahead of the January transfer window.
The midfielder’s agent, Jose Miguel Gonzalez, played down reports somewhat, saying: ‘We know that several Italian, English and Spanish clubs are following him, but Pedro is a mature guy and is thinking only about Sampdoria.
‘We are excited about the interest of other clubs, there are many rumours, but we have not spoken to anyone.
‘It’s early to talk about the market, Pedro works with humility and wants to help the team to climb up the table. Among February and April we will see what happens.
‘Samp is the team which have focused on him and we will always be grateful to them.’
Obiang is a great prospect for the future but I don’t think he is quite ready for the physicality of the Premier League and would suggest loaning the player out should he arrive on the books at Stamford Bridge. One for the future!
