Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich could reignite his pursuit of Pep Guardiola after the former Barcelona manger revealed he wants his next job to be in England or Germany.
Guardiola has been out of work since stepping down as Barca’s coach at the end of last season.
But after a few months’ break he is ready to get back in the saddle, and wants to begin talking to interested clubs in early 2013.
It is thought that the 41-year-old is only keen on a move to either the Premier League or the Bundesliga.
Admirer
Abramovich, who has been a long-term admirer of the Spaniard, will be encouraged by the news despite the success that current Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo has brought to the club since taking over from Andre Villas-Boas.
However there are a host of other leading English and German clubs that will be interested in his services too.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munch are three to have been strongly linked with Guardiola.
Speculation
Despite recently signing a new five-year contract, there has been much speculation that current City manager Roberto Mancini is soon to be replaced by the Catalonian.
The reigning Premier League champions have recently appointed former Barca executives Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristan, and many believe Guardiola could follow them through the Etihad entrance.
However, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s long-term future at Old Trafford unconfirmed, United could also see the former Roma midfielder as the ideal successor to their current boss.
