Demba Ba believes that both he and Fernando Torres could form a successful partnership if interim manager Rafael Benitez called upon them to form one.
It has been something that has been spoken about as a possibility even though we have rarely seen it but the duo did have an impact when Torres was brought on to support Ba against Manchester City during the FA Cup final at Wembley.
The only other time the two have been given a similar opportunity was against Brentford when they linked up before Torres stuck the ball in the top corner back in January.
Ba spoke about a potential partnership:
“When he came on the pitch against City he helped me a lot.“We caused them problems so I think we could play together.“We combined against Brentford earlier in the competition, too, so I don’t believe it would be a problem for us. Most of the time we have to fight against the two central defenders on our own. If you have an extra body there, it makes it easier.“That’s exactly what happened on Sunday. It’s good, but when we play with just one we have an extra midfield player so we can control the game more.“This is also very important in football, to be able to control the game. I would understand if Fernando wants to start against Liverpool. We’re not making the decision but I would understand if he does.”
