He may not have been appointed Manager of Chelsea yet, but Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho is already putting together his summer shopping list, and given Mourinho’s past success at Chelsea, it is rather unlikely that owner Roman Abramovich will refuse ‘The Special One’ when he makes a request.
The Daily Star reports that Mourinho wants to bring Brazilian powerhouse Hulk to Stamford Bridge to lead the line next season. Mourinho is not the first Chelsea manager to be linked with a move for Hulk, with Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto di Matteo both also keen on signing the 26 year old previously.
Hulk moved from Porto to Zenit St Petersburg for a massive £42 million transfer fee just last year, but has failed to settle in Russia, and will probably welcome a return to slightly warmer climes.
Roman Abramovich is believed to have close ties with the Russian club, and securing the player’s transfer is unlikely to be much of a challenge. It will be interesting to see though what the arrival of Hulk would mean for Spanish striker Fernando Torres, who must surely be running out of time to prove himself worthy of being Chelsea’s first choice striker
