Chelsea have confirmed that for the sixth time in eight seasons, they will be freezing the prices of home tickets, report Sky Sports.

Prices at Stamford Bridge have not increased since 2011 and next season’s freeze will cover season tickets, single match tickets, and hospitality lounges.

The Blues offer three different price categories for Premier League games, each of which will remain the same for the 2013/14 campaign.

The club will continue its policy of offering discounts for FA Cup and League Cup matches.

The freeze will also cover matches in European competitions.

Economy

Chief executive Ron Gourlay said: “Economic conditions remain tough for many people and the club would like to thank our supporters for the consistently very good attendances we have had throughout this season.

“Financial Fair Play regulations are now having an impact on clubs across Europe, but it was our hope a year ago when we announced prices would not be raised that this decision could be extended.

“We are pleased this has proved possible for 2013/14.”

Criticism

This will come as good news to Chelsea supporters, many of whom are still aggrieved by the club’s decision to sack Roberto di Matteo and appoint ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as interim manager.

The situation has led to Blues fans actively protesting against the manager at games and many supporters criticising the board for their part in the problems the side have had this season.

After winning the Champions League last year and spending big in the summer, fans had high hopes for this season but the club has not been able to deliver any real success, with a top four place in the Premier League the top priority.
